The 'Big Business Idea' Competition prizegiving!

£1000 worth of cash prizes will be awarded on the evening!

  • Date: Monday, March 27th, 2006
  • Venue: The Tasting Rooms (No.5, South Ward Road, Dundee - Next to Jumping Jacks nightclub.)
  • Time: 6 - 8pm

  • Graeme Scott - Director of the Tasting Rooms.
  • 'Waracle' - "Connecting PC gamers around the world in a new and exciting Internet environment." - The University of Abertay's successfull student venture.

To win the iPod Nano, entrants had to grab one of the competition beermats in the Abertay Student Centre or one of the bookmarks in the Abertay library. Fill in the details on the back, then drop it into one of the gold Aspire submission boxes located at the reception in the Kydd Building, Library or in the first floor bar of the Student Centre.  Congratulations to student Anu Kolari from Lapland who's idea was picked to win by Catherine Hill, the PSYBT regional manager.

Four applications were selected to take part in the SIE National Student Business Plan competition to compete for £10,000.

The DEADLINE was Friday 9th December 2005 @ 5pm . 

Guidelines for the entries were as follows:

  • You can enter as an individual or as a team.
  • Entrants must be current students.
  • The team leader and majority of the team must be students at the University of Abertay Dundee.
  • You can enter as many ideas as you like.
  • All information will be kept strictly confidential.
  • Entries should be emailed to entries@aspiresociety.co.uk
  • The four entries considered by a juding panel to be suitable for fully launching their business within a Scottish headquarters will be assisted in developing a business plan to enter the SIE National Business Plan Competition to win the £10,000 prize.
  • SIE National Business Plan entrants will be invited to attend an expenses-paid weekend business planning workshop in February 2006 (more details from info@aspiresociety.co.uk).
  • Prizes for the Abertay Aspire Society Competition presently amount to a total value of £1,000. 
  • Deadline for entry to all the above competitions is Friday 9th December 2005 @ 5pm.  Entries submitted after this time and date will not be accepted.

Alternatively you can drop by Unit 4 in the embreonix graduate incubator facility in Kydd Building (just past the ATM machine).
